Q: Is your service guaranteed?
A: Yes. We offer a Lifetime & International Guarantee that is honored not only by Champion Wedding Gown Specialist, by all members of the Association of Wedding Gown Specialists in over 500 cities around the world. We also offer a 100% guarantee against caramelization or yellowing of your gown. We are the only certified wedding gown specialists in Birmingham, Alabama.
We also offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you aren’t satisfied with the quality of our work and we cannot correct the problem for you, we will refund your money. You must return your MuseumCareChest in original condition to receive a full refund.
No other company in the Birmingham area offers these guarantees!
Q: Can I order a MuseumCare™ Preservation for a bride as a gift?
A: Yes. This would be a great wedding or bridal shower present. You can even sign up for our Bridal Registry on our website. Just tell your family and friends to go to our website at ChampionWeddingGownSpecialist.com and check out the Bridal Registry.
Q: I live outside the Birmingham area. How can I order your services and send you my wedding gown?
A: We also ship all over the country. Call us at 205.588.4120 and we will send you a container to ship your dress to us.
Q: What special offers and services are available?
A: With every pre-paid preservation, free pressing will be provided prior to your wedding day.
Q: What about destination weddings?
A: We can help you package your gown for travel. We have special boxes designed to carry your gown on an airplane for its safety…and your peace of mind!
Q: How long does it take to clean and preserve my gown?
A: Dress cleaning usually takes 2 weeks. After cleaning, we will call you to arrange a time to view your dress prior to your wedding gown preservation if that is a convenient option for you. If not, we’ll complete the gown preservation and then ship it to you.
Q: After I preserve my gown, can I open the packaging without damaging the gown?
A: Yes, we put a pair of white gloves in every box. Just open your box, but make sure you put the gloves on before you handle your gown so that the oils from your hands will not get on the dress. If your gown is worn, handled excessively, or soiled, it should be cleaned and preserved again.
Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes, we accept major credit cards including AMEX, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.
Q: How do you clean my gown?
A: Our Wedding Gown Specialist carefully hand cleans every gown with gentle solutions that dissolve the different kinds of stains on your gown. Then your gown is rinsed in the purest formula, the one best for your gown, until it is completely clean.
Q: What is preservation?
A: Your completely clean gown is carefully packed with acid-free tissue in a museum-quality wedding chest that protects your gown from the pollutants and light that cause unprotected gowns to yellow.
Q: Why is your process different from others?
A: Spills such as soda, wine, and cake (many times caused by a guest and unnoticed by the bride) contain sugar and often dry without leaving a visible mark. Sugar is not dissolved during ordinary dry cleaning and caramelizes over time into ugly brown stains. We take an extra step to be sure all stains, both seen and unseen, are removed.
Q: Is your wedding chest different from others?
A: Our trademarked MuseumCareTM wedding chest is completely acid-free, not just pH neutral. Boxes that are only pH-neutral are not as safe for your gown, and ordinary boxes and tissue are heavy in acid, which damages fabric. Ordinary boxes and tissue cause yellowing and can “burn” gowns leaving dark brown streaks wherever the fabric touches the box.
Q: Can I see my gown when it is in the wedding chest?
A: You can see your gown through an oval window made of polypropylene, an inert plastic that will not yellow or damage your gown. As an alternative, we can wrap the gown in muslin, and you can fold back the muslin to view your gown. You can also remove the gown from the box periodically but be sure to handle it carefully. We provide cotton gloves for just this purpose. Be sure to re-pack the gown carefully using the acid-free tissue along the folds of the gown.
Q: What else can I preserve with my gown?
A: Such things as a headpiece and veil, petticoat, gloves, garter, and handkerchief may be stored with your gown. There is no charge for the first item. You may also choose to store your things in more than one chest. Shoes should not be stored with the gown because fumes from the leather and glue may cause damage. We can also preserve other special garments such as christening gowns, communion dresses, quinceaneras gowns, military uniforms, etc.
Q: Will you make repairs to my gown?
A: We can make any needed repairs. For some repairs, there may be an additional charge.
Q: Can you handle alterations to my wedding dress and how long do wedding dress alterations usually take?
A: We do all types of wedding dress alterations, from simple hems, adding or removing straps, taking in or letting out the waist or bodice, resizing the wedding dress, restyling the wedding dress…most any type of wedding dress alterations required. We require less time than most wedding gown shops. Simple hems on a simple wedding dress require a day or two while more extensive alterations require more time depending on the number of fittings, the complexity of the wedding dress, and your availability for fittings. Call us for an appointment. 205.588.4120
